He has raised over 20 million dollars in his career for economic development, education, community service, the arts, the enviroment, and for social programs.
Bob Henry Baber ran for the Governorship of West Virginia in 2011, on a platform of fiscal responsibility, economic growth, affordable health care, promotion of education, and environmental stewardship. He secured over 2% of the vote for the Mountain Party in a very tight election, despite being outspent $10,000 to $1. He ran a positive issue-oriented campaign devoid of disgusting negative ads displayed by the "Republicrats" in their lame attempts to claim West Virginia, not for the people, but for their respective parties.
About: Bob Henry Baber was born in 1950 to a Mountaineer father and a New York City mother. They met at a church dance in NYC sponsored for servicemen. Troy Baber was on his way to WW II and the Pacific. Like many West Virginians, he out-migrated after WW II for economic opportunity. Bob Henry Baber, his only son, grew up in Levittown, NY, the granddaddy of sub-divisions. Yet his dad's influence as an artist, storyteller, and garden grower has remained with him for his entire life. Troy was an artist, Bob Henry paints with words. Troy was an environmentalist who loved the beauty of West Virginia as God made it. Bob Henry shares that deeply held value. From his mother, he gained balance and appreciation for diversity. Bob Henry has been in West Virginia every year of his life, and has lived in Charleston, Beckley, Athens, Montogmery, Glenville, and Richwood. He has traveled across geography to reclaim his Appalachian heritage along with his ancestral homeplace. He is a common man who has the uncommon belief that all West Virginians deserve a chance to prosper.
